Express Your Love And More With Garnets
by Sylvia Dickens
You’ve gone
the usual route – flowers and chocolates, fine dining, beautiful jewelry
and perhaps a new car. Yet each year, you hope to show your loved one even
more powerfully how much you care.
Lovers are
always seeking ways to express their devotion. Often, it’s with words and
gestures. When love is overwhelming it can be difficult to find the right
words and to make the most effective moves. At other times, it’s about
finding special gifts you know the person will cherish forever.
Garnets
provide the perfect way to let someone know how much you care.
Garnets go
beyond words. Their appearance alone suggests the red of a pulsing heart,
beating ever stronger with your growing love.
These
precious gems have become known throughout the generations as expressions
of love. It is believed that anyone giving this beautiful precious
gemstone from nature will bring joy for many years to come.
In legend,
garnets are believed to bring good luck in love and friendship as well as
in business. They are believed to have special qualities, that they aid in
treating high blood pressure although this could have derived from the
wonderful and vibrant red coloring usually associated with garnet.
Another
possible benefit is its supposed ability to cleanse the thyroid and
spleen. It also has been suggested that the garnet helps cure depression
and build self-esteem. These could be superstition and old wives tales,
but some people firmly believe there is some validity to these claims.
Garnets are
said to aid in increasing the owner’s power, vitality, strength and
sensuality. Given as a gift, it has come to symbolize never-ending love
and devotion. It is a symbol of friendship and is even said to help
increase the sex drive.
Originally
used as gemstones and abrasives in the Bronze Age, Garnet today has become
the January birthstone. Although often seen in red, they do come in a
variety of colors: shades of green, intense yellow, bright orange and many
hues in between. The only color not available is blue.
It’s
difficult not to feel energized and inspired by the brilliance of the
garnet whose color varies with the particular light under which it is
viewed, whether it’s daylight or artificial light.
Given the
claims that garnets can contribute to good health and success, what better
way to express your love than to offer a gift that continues to give in
all areas and for a lifetime?
